Trunk or Treat is back.

That’s the safe Halloween event hosted by the Manteca Health Occupations Students of America planned for Wednesday from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Manteca High staff parking lot, 450 E. Yosemite Ave.

All children are welcome and admission is free.

But, for a minimal fee, those in attendance can purchase nachos, cotton candy, popcorn, snow cone, hot dog, chili and games.

Proceeds, according to Regional Occupational Program teacher and Manteca HOSA advisor Cheryl Behler, will help defray the cost for students to attend the state convention in Sacramento and the National Leadership Conference planned for June in Nashville.

Brooke Mejarado, who is president of the local HOSA chapter, is looking forward to dressing up in costume. She and other members will be dressed up for Halloween during the third annual Trunk or Treat.

The last one was held in 2010 but was skipped last year due to Behler being out on maternity leave.

Manteca HOSA students will be on hand to help out with costume contest that starts at 6 o’clock.

A car, in addition, will be decorated and filled with candies to mark the occasion.

HOSA is a national student organization endorsed by the U.S. Department of Education and the Health Science Education Division of ACTE.
