MODESTO — The Modesto Junior College Foundation will offer some “wicked fun” at this year’s Summer Sonata which is slated for Thursday, July 21, at the Gallo Center for the Arts in downtown Modesto. The elegant evening will feature food catered by O’Brien’s Market, fine wine and a touch of “Wicked” entertainment.

The event begins with a reception and silent auction at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m. After dinner there will be a live auction and program in the Foster Family Theatre featuring MJC students performing a medley from the musical “Wicked.” The entertainment will include a solo by Lindsay Pearce, former MJC musical theatre student and contender in Oxygen’s “The Glee Project,” which airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

The cost to attend is $150 per person and table sponsorships are available. Event proceeds benefit college programs, campus projects and student scholarships.

Businesses or community members wishing to support the educational programs of MJC are invited to donate dinner parties, use of vacation homes or time shares, golf outings, original artwork, jewelry, cases of wine, gift certificates and other items for the live or silent auctions.

The Summer Sonata is the primary fundraising event for the Foundation and since its inception has provided over $1 million for MJC student scholarships, program grants, educational activities and equipment not provided by the state.
