Movies in the Park returns Saturday

“Journey to the Center of the Earth” kicks off the 2009 Movies in the Park series this Saturday at Woodward Park.

The family-orientated series was a runaway success last year drawing as many as 500 people weekly who went out to Woodward Park to enjoy the cool evening weather, original music from local garage bands, concessions as well as the feature film.

This year it is taking place in the storm basin that will allow the placement of two new screens designed to enhance viewing enjoyment.

There is a $1 charge for those 12 and over to help cover city costs.

The movies are being presented by DeCristo Productions.

The original start day of June 20 had to be cancelled due to a funeral.
Other upcoming films are:
•July 4, “Indiana Jones.”

•July 11, “Tales of Desperaux.”

•July 18, “Bolt.”

•July 25, “Inkheart.”

People are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets and jackets. Mosquito repellent is also suggested.
