VICTORVILLE (AP) — Authorities say an 8-year-old child was seriously injured when an SUV carrying seven people careened off a Southern California freeway and into a car dealership, damaging a dozen other vehicles.
California Highway Patrol Officer Shawn Gordon says a tire on a Chevrolet Suburban blew out Sunday and the vehicle rolled off Interstate 15, through a fence and across the tops of cars in the sales lot at Valley Hi Nissan in Victorville.
Gordon says the child was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the SUV. The child was flown to a hospital with major injuries. The Victorville Daily Press says one other person in the Suburban suffered moderate injuries.
Twelve parked cars were damaged.
