MODESTO (AP) — Authorities say a driver was killed when a flying chunk of concrete slammed into her truck's windshield during a four-vehicle crash on Highway 99 in Modesto.
The California Highway Patrol says a 52-year-old woman from Antelope was killed in the chain-reaction accident around 11 a.m. Thursday. Her identity has not been released.
CHP Officer Eric Parsons says two other drivers suffered minor injuries.
Parsons says the collision began when a 25-year-old driver sideswiped a box truck, which crashed into a concrete center divide. Concrete debris flew through the air and one chunk crashed into the windshield of the victim's pickup truck.
The crash forced the closure of several lanes of Highway 99, stalling traffic for more than two hours.
