LOS ANGELES (AP) — A Los Angeles skyscraper has been cited for failing to change its light bulbs. The FCC says they’re interfering with cellphones.

City News Service says the Ernst & Young Tower on Figueroa Street got the word after Verizon noticed static coming from the 41-story building. The buzzing was interfering with cellphone frequencies.

Engineers traced it to the building’s interior light bulbs.

The FCC says the building owner — Brookfield Office Properties in New York — was told to come up with a correction plan last May but didn’t — hence Friday’s citation.

An after-hours call to the company seeking comment wasn’t immediately returned Monday.
