FOUNTAIN VALLEY (AP) — Authorities say at least 17 vehicles were damaged or destroyed in a carport fire that spread to a Southern California apartment complex and displaced residents in 15 units.

Resident Kirk Hayhurst tells the Orange County Register he heard explosions early Saturday and when he stepped outside he saw a large wall of flames above the carport in Fountain Valley.

He said it looked like a scene from a horror movie.

No injuries were reported.  The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
