TUNICA, Miss. (AP) — Joey Chestnut will seek to defend his title today at the 2014 World Twinkie-Eating Championship at the Bally’s Casino in Tunica, Mississippi.
Last year, the 30-year-old Chestnut set a Twinkie-eating world record by consuming 121 Twinkies in six minutes — about one every three seconds.
The winner will get $2,500.
Matt Stonie of San Jose, California, who finished second in 2013, returns for this year’s event.
Chestnut, from Vallejo, California, bested the 22-year-old Stonie in August at Nevada’s Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-off in Sparks, Nevada.
In July, Stonie gulped down a record 43 slugburgers — one better than Chestnut — to keep win his third Slugburger Festival title in Corinth, Mississippi.
