She’s not the build of a full-sized shepherd, but this red, three-year-old mix being held at the Manteca dog pound is personality plus and in the need of a friend. She obviously has not had the best of care and her coat needs some attention, but she definitely has heart and at first blush likes people. She comes with a chain collar with a pink ribbon intertwined through its links. Anyone who dares to drive up to the animal control shelter will see her patiently sitting by the wire in the third cage – gazing patiently waiting for someone to adopt her. This is one dog whose eyes tell the whole story of hope for a better life. The animal shelter is located on Wetmore Avenue in the shadow of the city water tower east of South Main Street.
