A burglary in progress in the 1200 block of Nana Place was thwarted when the homeowner arrived at the residence at about 3:30 Monday afternoon and neighbors teamed up to chase down one of the two suspects.
A retired Sheriff’s deputy, Don Tisher, who lives around the corner on Nicole Way, said he was relaxing, just watching TV in his family room when he saw a Mexican male run across his backyard like someone was chasing him. Tisher went outside and challenged the man, who then ran toward the front gate to get out of the yard. Tisher eventually tackled the suspect, while his next-door neighbor ordered him to quit resisting at gunpoint.
They held him until police arrived in less than a minute, Tisher said.
Tisher said the homeowner had been trying to catch up with the suspect in his car and came screeching to a stop when he saw the man had been apprehended by the neighbors. The man had run from the arriving homeowner, jumping four to five backyard fences to the east.
The other suspect, a woman, ran north on Nana Place, where she was apprehended. Both were charged with burglary.
