Looking for a different dining experience?

There are a couple of community-based options in the coming days where you can enjoy a meal and fellowship while your ticket helps support non-profit groups.

PORK DINNER: The Festa do Espiritu Santo de Manteca (FESM) is staging its Matanca do Porco feed on Saturday, Feb. 5, at the FESM Hall, 230 N. Main St.

The menu consists of marinated pork, linguica, morcella (blood sausage), sweet potatoes, taro root, Portuguese beans, salad, bread, and Portuguese doughnuts.

No-host cocktails are at 5:30 p.m. followed by dinner at 6 p.m. with Dancing by Gilberto Amaral from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children 6 to 12.

CRAB FEED: The East Union High Athletic Boosters annual crab feed is Saturday, Feb. 5, at the MRPS Hall.

No-host cocktails are at 6 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m., and dancing to follow. Cost is $40 per person. Live auction and 50/50 raffle will also be available.  All proceeds benefit the student athletes of East Union High School. For tickets contact EUHS administration office at (209) 858-7270

CHICKEN CORDON BLEU: Ripon’s VFW Post 1051 will be holding its annual Valentine’s Day party on Saturday, Feb. 12, at Ripon’s VFW Hall. For a donation of $12 per person, you will be served a sit-down dinner of chicken cordon bleu with all the fixings with dancing to follow.

Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. with DJ music 7 to 11. Tickets will be limited, so it will be important to purchase them as early as possible.  Tickets are available at Dean Uecker’s Farmers insurance office at 1444 West Main Street in Ripon, or at Ripon’s VFW Post, 12455 West Ripon Road.  For more information please call 599-6815.  

MARINATED PORK
: The Manteca-Ripon Pentecost Society’s 92nd Annual Presentation of Queens is set for Saturday, Feb. 12, at the MRPS Hall, 133 N. Grant St.

Cocktails are from 6 to 7 p.m. The marinated pork dinner with Portuguese beans, sweet potatoes, green salad, bread, and wine is served from 7 to 8:30 p.m. followed by dancing 9 p.m. to midnight.

Tickets for adults are $12.50, children 6-12 are $6 while those under 6 are free. For tickets please call 825-4255 or email mrpshall@yahoo.com. Tickets also available at the door.

CHICKEN CACCIATORE
: The Italian Catholic Federation, Manteca Branch 139, will be having a polenta and chicken cacciatore dinner on Saturday, Feb. 19, in the St. Anthony’s School cafeteria on the corner of North and Fremont Street.

The tickets are $20 each and will include salad, bread, beverage and dessert. No-host cocktail hour is from 6 to 7 p.m. Dinner will be served at 7 p.m. For tickets or information call Anna Mello 982-5458 or Ida Queirolo 982-5710.
