Joni Morris plans Patsy Cline tribute concert at MJC
MODESTO — Modesto Junior College will present “A Tribute to Patsy Cline” concert starring Joni Morris and the After Midnight Band on Friday, Sept.11, at 7:30 p.m. in the Auditorium of the Performing and Media Arts Center on East Campus.
 
A country music singer, Morris is a nationally acclaimed entertainer, songwriter and recording artist from Stockton. Receiving rave reviews coast to coast, she travels with her band entertaining audiences with tributes to the music of Patsy Cline, Connie Francis and more.

Tickets are $14 general and $12 for students and senior citizens.  Tickets are available for purchase online at http://mjc.tix.com and beginning August 31 tickets will be available in the MJC Box Office, Monday through Friday from noon to 5 p.m., or by calling (209) 575-6776 during Box Office hours.

Morris and her award winning “Jordanaires singing style” band have traveled nationally for the past 15 years and offering professional, high energy shows.  They have earned a reputation as the most authentic Patsy Cline tribute band in the country. The audience is transported back to the Golden Years of the late 50’s and early 60’s when the glamour girl of country captivated fans with soul-stirring voice and flamboyant personality. They enjoy songs like “Crazy,” “Sweet Dreams,” “I Fall to Pieces,” “My Happiness” and “Where the Boys Are.”  

Car show this  weekend at  Cardoza West
Cardoza West Shopping Center in Manteca is sponsoring the Cardoza West 1st Annual Car Show today and Sunday from 3 to 9 p.m. Admission to the show is free; however, there will be a registration to get into the show. Cash prize and trophies will be awarded for winners including Best in Show. Prizes include a two-night stay at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno. More than 45 sponsors have donated a host of raffle prizes. Other attractions will include food merchants, music, live entertainment and more.

FESM festa of accounts Sunday
The Festa do Espiritu Santo is staging their annual Festa of Accounts on Sunday, Aug. 30, at noon.  
Sopas, traditional meat, bread and cabbage, will be served at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. to everyone present.  Auction of Portguese sweet bread, coffee cakes and other donated items will be at 2 p.m.  The evening will conclude with a dance by Erminio Lemos from 8 p.m. to midnight.

The outgoing President is Manuel Bento and the new incoming President is Carlos Gaspar, who will be announcing the new committee for the 2009-2010 term.

Arts & Crafts fete in Arnold
ARNOLD - The 37th Annual Cedar Center Arts & Crafts Festival takes place Labor Day weekend, Sept. 5 and 6, on Highway 4 in downtown Arnold.

Fine handmade arts & crafts, gourmet foods, and face painting are featured at this popular event. Live country/swing music by “Homegrown” from Modesto and juggling by “Bonzai” Bunnell from San Francisco takes place each day as does continuous entertainment.

The Ebbett’s Pass Lion’s Club serves a pancake breakfast from 7:30 to 11 a.m. each day. The Ebbett’s Pass Volunteer Department offers local beers for sale. Hours of the festival are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Free admission and parking.
