Sunday concert features Manteca bands
Braata & Facade, two local bands will be performing their original music at this year’s annual summer concert, at the Center Plaza in Modesto on Sunday, Aug. 30, at 11 a.m.

Braata has been together for 11 months and has just finished their first CD which will be available for the first time at the concert for $10.
Facade with their unique alternate rock music has been working on their 1st CD which will be available in 2010.

Other bands performing at this concert are TK and J, Desperado, Estrofest, Tundra, Bang, A. Ok, Stay the Storm, Neighborhood Battleground, Neon Ink, The Light Grenades, Revival, Awkward Silence, Again we rise, Static 6, and Zephyr, Special guest bands are Finish Ticket and Three Men and a Baby.

Tickets can be purchased in advance for $12 at Manteca Convention & Visitors Center located inside the Strikezone Manteca, Modesto Convention & Visitors Bureau located at 1150 9th Street, Suite C, Modesto or at Janis Studio, 138 W. Yosemite, Manteca. Tickets also can be purchased at the door for $15.

Car show this weekend at Cardoza West
Cardoza West Shopping Center in Manteca is sponsoring the Cardoza West 1st Annual Car Show Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 29-30, from 3 to 9 p.m. Admission to the show is free; however, there will be a registration the to get into the show. Cash prize and trophies will be awarded for winners including Best in Show. Prizes include a two-night stay at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno. More than 45 sponsors have donated a host of raffle prizes. Other attractions will include food merchants, music, live entertainment and more.

FESM festa of accounts Sunday
The Festa do Espiritu Santo is staging their annual Festa of Accounts on Sunday, Aug. 30, at noon.  

Sopas, traditional meat, bread and cabbage, will be served at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. to everyone present.  Auction of Portguese sweet bread, coffee cakes and other donated items will be at 2 p.m.  The evening will conclude with a dance by Erminio Lemos from 8 p.m. to midnight.

The outgoing President is Manuel Bento and the new incoming President is Carlos Gaspar, who will be announcing the new committee for the 2009-2010 term.

Delicato home winemaking workshop
Delicato Vineyards will be holding its home winemaking workshop once again this year for those just beginning or those wanting to hone their skills.

Richard Foote, the Tasting Room Manager, has over 20 years of experience in the craft and will share with you the basics of home winemaking.

Choose from the following two dates to attend:

•Saturday, Aug. 29, from 2 to 4 p.m.

•Saturday, Sept. 5, from 2 to 4 p.m.

It takes place at Delicato Vineyards Tasting Room, Highway 99 and French Camp Road, four miles north of Manteca.
