Teamsters gather at Northgate Park
Thousands of Teamsters from five surrounding counties will celebrate Labor Day on Sunday, Sept. 6, at Northgate Park.

The event will start at 10 a.m. with singing of the national anthem by Miss Manteca followed by a softball tournament, soccer tournament, and horseshoe tournament.

There will be entertainment for the entire family including a DJ to provide music, games, several food booths, T-shirts, raffles, and more.

Car wash helps with medical costs
A car wash is being held today from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Les Schwab Tires, 12040 W. Yosemite Ave., for soccer coach Craig Candido.  

All proceeds will help pay for medical expenses caused by an unexpected medical complication.

Back to School night Wednesday at SHS
Sierra High will be conducting its annual “Back to School” night on Wednesday, Sept. 9, in the large gymnasium.

For parents and guardians, this will be an opportunity to meet with teachers and inquire about grades and progress of their students.

The schedule is as follows:

Students with the last name between “A” through “K” will meet between 5:45-7 p.m.

Those with last names between “L” through “Z” can meet from 6:45-8 p.m.

Sierra officials ask that each meeting with the various teachers last only a couple of minutes in order to accommodate all parents and guardians.

In addition, the Sierra FFA will be hosting a barbecue next to the gym from 5 to 7 o’clock.

Included on the menu will be steak sandwich, chips, and soda for $6 or a hotdog, chips, and soda for $4.

Tractors wanted for Main Street Day
RIPON — Wanted: Tractors to be displayed at Ripon’s downtown Main Street.

The event, sponsored by the Ripon Chamber of Commerce, is the 24th Annual Main Street Day & 7th Annual Car Show & Health Faire scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 17, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Those who want to enter their tractors in the car show are asked to fill out a form and indicate the make, model and year of the vehicle entry. Tractors will be for display only and will not be judged. A copy of the entry form is available on the chamber’s web site at www.chamber.org. Entry fee for each car is $35. Checks must be made payable to Ripon Chamber of Commerce and mailed to P.O. Box 327, Ripon, CA 95366.

In addition to the car and tractor show, the popular annual event will feature food, arts and crafts, commercial vendors and a health faire.
