Student mural contest offers winner $250
The Manteca Mural Society is hosting its very first Student Mural Contest where a student or group of students who attend or live within Manteca Unified School District boundaries has/have an opportunity to paint a mural on a building located in Manteca. Contestants must submit a mural design to the Manteca Mural Society by Dec. 1.

The winning design will be awarded $250; second place will receive $100; and third place will earn $50. The high school of the winning student or group of students will be awarded $500 in art supplies. All winners will have the opportunity to work with a contracted artist to paint the mural.

St. Anthony’s holiday crafts fair set Nov. 1
Preparations are under way for the 43rd annual Holiday Luncheon and Crafts Fair, a fund-raiser for St. Anthony’s School which will be held Saturday, Nov. 7, from 10:30 a.m. until 6 p.m.

The food is the big attraction for the hundreds of people who red-mark this event on their calendars every year. But the wide array of one-of-a-kind handmade arts and crafts for sale also draws large crowds.

The luncheon will be served from 10:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. when they will close the buffet and open up to the public free of charge. This year’s theme is “Santa Claus is Coming to Town.”

Three lucky raffle ticket holders will also go home with one of three donated grand prizes. First prize is jewelry donated by New York Diamonds, second prize is a teeth-whitening service by Pam Andrews, DDS, and the third prize is a beautiful handmade quilt.

St. Anthony’s plans Safe Halloween
St. Anthony’s School will host its fourth annual Safe Halloween Night at the school, 323 N. Fremont Ave., in Manteca on Saturday, Oct. 31.

The event is designed to keep children safe and off the streets on Halloween night. Haunted house, games, prizes and food will be featured in the school gym from 4 until 8 p.m. Admission is free. Ticket prices are 25 cents each, 20 tickets for $5 or 40 tickets for $10. For more information, please call the school office at 823-4513.
