St. Vincent De Paul Society presents Christmas Omelet Eggstravaganza, Sunday, Dec. 6, 8 a.m. to noon at St. Anthony’s gymnasium. Tickets are $7 for adults, children 10 & under, $3.

This is our one and only fund raiser for this year. During the past 12 months we have helped with food and clothing for 7,664 families, 15,513 adults and 14,529 children. Due to the weak economy, they have had an increase from the previous year. All proceeds are used for the needy of our community. The society appreciates your continued support. The Friends of the Manteca Library will hold a big book sale on Saturday, Nov. 14 in the library meeting room on Center Street. The sale will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. All community members are invited to come and look over the books on sale.


The City of Manteca and Delta Blood Bank are inviting the community to donate blood on Tuesday, Nov. 10, from noon to 5 p.m. at the Senior Center, 295 Cherry Lane.

The City of Lathrop is accepting entry applications for the Dec. 12 Festival of Lights Holiday Parade.

The 2009 theme is “Lighting the Way with Hope.”

The Mayor’s Parade Committee is being chaired by Tony Martin while Ron and Susan Dell’Osso will serve as the grand marshals.

Entry fee is $20. The deadline for all entries is Monday, Nov. 30.

The parade will start at 5 p.m. at J and Fifth streets, traveling south on Fifth to Mingo Lane.

Applications are available at the City of Lathrop website”www.ci.lathrop.ca.us, Lathrop City Hall, Lathrop Community Center and the Lathrop Senior Center.


The Manteca’s VFW Post 6311 and American Legion Post 249 are holding a Veterans Day ceremony at Library Park on Wednesday, Nov. 11, starting at 11 a.m.

They would like to invite the public to attend. Refreshments will be served after the ceremony.

The Manteca Moose Lodge will kick off the holiday season by hosting a benefit prime rib dinner along with the annual Toys for Tots on Saturday, December 19.

The U.S. Marines will once again be on hand for the toy drive with the local Moose Lodge No. 1815, 1185 N. Main Street, serving as the dropping point every afternoon until Dec. 23.

Cost for the dinner is $15; included will be music by Tim Wilson (Tim2 DJ Service.)
