EU High choir stages ‘South Pacific’ shows

The East Union Choir will be presenting “South Pacific” Thursday, Feb. 25, at 7 p.m., Friday, Feb. 26, at 7 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 27, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 28, at 2 p.m.  

The performances will be held at the Manteca Presbyterian Church on North and Main streets. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for children under the age of 12. Tickets may be purchased at the door or may be bought ahead of time by calling Anne Talcott at 823-0054.

Some of the famous songs from “South Pacific” are Some Enchanted Evening; There Is Nothin’ Like a Dame; Younger Than Springtime; A Wonderful Guy; Bali Ha’i; I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair; You’ve Got to Be Carefully Taught and Happy Talk. The musical is being directed by Aileen Williams, choreographed by Mardy White and musically directed and accompanied by Anne Talcott.  The show features Jillian Goulart, Danielle Calleja, Ben Alfter, Ben Sianez, Gianna Hedin, Sadaf Ahrari, Jason Araya, Corwin Rocha, Thomas Klingenfuss, William Cheung, Sam Eklund, Kristen Bautista, Amanda Lopez, eight elementary-aged children and 30 other East Union Advanced Choir members.

ROP students present ‘Premiere  Runway Show’

Students of the ROP Fashion Merchandising class at Lindbergh Educational Center are presenting their 2010 fashion show “The Premiere Runway Show,” on Saturday, Feb. 27, in the Auditorium at Lindbergh Educational Center, 311 E. North St.

The event will be featuring high school students as models from Sierra, Manteca, East Union, and Lathrop. Doors will open at 6 p.m. for social/ entertainment hour, and show starts at 7 p.m. Admission tickets are $5 and they are available to purchase from a Fashion Merchandising student or by calling (209) 601-6651.

During intermission, the audience will be entertained by local high school dancers, All Time High aka A.T.H. Desserts and beverages for the event are provided by the ROP Culinary Students and the ROP Administration of Justice Students are keeping watch as security for the event.
All proceeds from the event will go directly to the ROP Fashion Merchandising students attending the annual field trip to the Los Angeles area. Students will be touring the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising campus, and while there they will be attending the Debut Fashion Show 2010.

Ripon concert March 12 helps Relay for Lifer

Ripon Christian School students are holding a benefit concert for this year’s Ripon Relay For Life on Friday, March 12, at 7:30 p.m., at the school.
The headlining band is called “I Am Empire”. This show will be their first stop on a national tour promoting their current hit single called “The Elevator.” Here is a link to their website if you would like some more information about the band: http://www.myspace.com/iamempire

Advance ticket donations are $7 a tickets with all of the proceeds going directly to Ripon Relay for Life. Tickets at the door will be $10. As an extra bonus, anyone who is on a 2010 Relay for Life team is eligible for one free ticket to the concert, due to the fact that they are already contributing to the cause
