A Dr. Seuss-themed bookcase custom-made by St. Anthony of Padua School’s kindergarten students and their parents is just one of the dozens of items that will be on the auction block when the school celebrates with an auction dinner its 60th anniversary.

Several books, including some popular Dr. Seuss books, will come along with the bookcase.

Each classroom is doing separate projects that will be up for auction during the celebration to be held in the gym. Joanna Perez, president of PTG (Parent-Teacher Group) which is sponsoring the auction-dinner fund-raiser, said “each class is doing something different.” The fourth-graders are putting together a cookbook with the entire package to include several cooking utensils. The second-grade class is making a 24”x36” flag of the United States made of popsicle sticks and painted in the colors of Uncle Sam Another class is making a cross made of ceramic tiles.

The students’ projects will be offered at the live auction. There will be a silent auction as well featuring several big-ticket items donated by various people and groups in the community including generous business establishments. Many of the auction items include more than 100 themed baskets ranging from a lemonade basket donated by school development director Debbie Kapina, an Italian basket that includes wine and pasta, a movie-night basket filled with everything that you need for a night at the movies, a Winnie-the-Pooh basket, and a basket of collectible Country Bear Jamboree from the private collection of school secretary Pam Kelechenyi.

There will be many autographed memorabilia as well on the auction block, plus pigs and cows (whole or half) for slaughter donated by local farmers, said PTG vice president Jennifer Yeszin.

Auction preview will start at 5:30 p.m. followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. The auction will begin at 7:30 pm.

The dinner is catered by Angelina’s in Stockton. The menu will include a choice of chicken or tri-tip, Angelina’s “signature pasta,” salad, vegetables and drinks. Wine will be served along with the dinner. There will be an open full bar as well where guests will be able to buy drinks.
