Outdoor enthusiasts will have a reason to help mark the final Manteca Convention & Visitors Bureau’s farmers market of the summer on Tuesday.
The market this Tuesday from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Library Park is being dubbed “Outdoor Adventures.” It will feature displays of products from a variety of Manteca-Lathrop businesses including Delta Power Sports, Bass Pro Shops, Manteca Trailer, and Cabral Jeep Chrysler Dodge.
The 13-week long market now in its 11th year will have lured more than 10,000 people downtown this summer including repeat customers when it winds down Tuesday evening under the stately Sycamores at Library Park. It has established itself as the most successful ongoing community event in terms of drawing power as well as promoting South County agriculture and Manteca area businesses.
“We wanted it to also serve as a quality of life (event) for Manteca residents,” noted CVB Executive Director Linda Abeldt of the fact the weekly market not only provides healthy food options and promotes local business but also has low-key family-style entertainment.
Abeldt said the market will definitely continue next year although there could be a second market at the Promenade Shops at Orchard Valley or the market that is now downtown could be shifted to the Union Road and Highway 120 Bypass complex.
The CVB is relocating its offices to Orchard Valley in October in bid to gain exposure to more than 2 million visitors anticipated to come to Manteca simply to go to the Bass Pro Shops.
They will operate a visitor’s information center to promote options for people in the greater Manteca area ranging from recreation, sightseeing, wine tasting, as well as restaurants, hotels, and shopping to nearby attractions such as the Delta, Yosemite, and the Gold Country.
By locating at the complex, Abeldt said the CVB board believes the organization will be even more effective at helping capture visitors’ dollars for the Manteca economy.
The final market of the year also has a coupon for a basket of cherry tomatoes for the first 100 people to present it to the Yang Farms booth.
