Ripon Police officers made a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle Sunday evening after its occupants were seen loitering about a closed business in the 200 block of South Stockton Avenue.
When the officer exited his patrol car the 1997 Acura sped away at a high speed from the intersection of Elm Avenue and Third Street through residential neighborhoods.
Lt. Steve Merchant added that the driver drove onto northbound Highway 99 and the California Highway Patrol was asked to join Ripon officers and led the pursuit onto the freeway reaching speeds above 95 miles per hour.  The vehicle drove past Manteca and to Arch Road north of the Stockton Airport.
The male driver fled his car on foot, Lt. Merchant said, with Ripon and CHP officers initiating a foot pursuit and was taken into custody without incident.
Police arrested Gregory Duane Brazier, Sr., 47, of Foresthill and Elizabeth Anette Troncoso, 22, of Modesto.
Brazier was charged with evading a police officer with wanton disregard for public safety, reckless driving, driving while under the influence, possession of a controlled substance, paraphernalia, driving on a suspended license and possession of marijuana.
Troncoso was charged with being under the influence of a controlled substance, and possession of controlled substance paraphernalia.
