Fly fishing show set for Feb. 20-22

PLEASANTON — The annual Northern California Fly Fishing Show begins the 2015 angling season at the Alameda County Fairgrounds on Friday, Feb. 20, through Sunday, Feb.22.

The fairgrounds, 4501 Pleasanton Ave, will play host to a three day, three ring circus of all-things-fly-fishing with casting demonstrations, fly-tying, films, destinations and the newest tackle and accessories..    

Fly-fishing Show admission is $15 for one day, $25 for two days and $35 for three days.  Film Festival admission is $15 or $10 with paid admission to the show.

Casting demonstrations and instruction are scheduled by Gary Borger, Wendy Gunn, Nick Curcione, Jeff Currier, Hal Janssen, Simon Gawesworth and Daniel Gelhardo 

Featured fly tiers include Borger, Dan Blanton, Janssen, Phillip Rowley, Ben Furimsky, Denny Rickards and Ed Engle.  

Seminars include Elevate Your Delta Fly Game, John Sherman; Fly Fishing Tactics for Success in the Eastern Sierra, Joe Contaldi; Fly Fishing Pyramid Lake, Rob Anderson; Nymphing from Top to Bottom, Borger; Offbeat Tactics that Catch Trout, Ed Engle; San Luis Reservoir on the Fly, Dan Blanton; Catching Difficult Trout; Engle; and Stillwater Fly Fishing Secrets, Hal Janssen.   There are 10 seminars scheduled each day.  

Among the 40 scheduled Destination Theater presentations are Fishing the Henry’s Fork, Tips on Fishing the Trinity, Dry Fly Approaches, Fly Fishing the Turneffe Atoll, Fly Fishing the Baja and Central America, Patagonia North to South, The Ultimate Atoll: Christmas Island, Baja Flyfishing the Edge, Fishing Lees Ferry, Southwest Montana and Puget Sound Pink, Coho and Chum Salmon on the Fly.  

The Author’s Booth offers show attendees an opportunity to “talk fly-fishing” – and have books inscribed – by the nation’s best anglers.  

Door prizes valued at $36,175 to be won at the 2015 Fly Fishing Shows include:
