Guest conductor leads symphony

STOCKTON — It is a red-letter day for the Stockton Symphony on Saturday, Nov. 15. 

On that day, the concert will include the best-loved work in all of classical music and the concert  will mark a milestone in the Symphony’s 88-year history, with the orchestra welcoming its first Classics series guest conductor in decades, Maestro David Amado. 

The concert program features arguably the most famous work in all of classical music, Beethoven’s  Symphony No. 5, plus Samuel Barber’s haunting  Adagio for Strings, made famous in the movie Platoon, and the pyrotechnics of Tchaikovsky’s virtuosic Violin Concerto. The featured soloist is Chee-Yun playing the violin.

Grammy-nominee David Amado has conducted the Delaware Symphony for over a decade; he will be the guest conductor for the evening. He appears by arrangement with Sciolino Artist Management. The concert is sponsored by M.J. Hall and Company, Inc; Golden Bear Insurance Company. 

Classics II: Tchaikovsky, Barber and Beethoven will be performed by the Stockton Symphony on Saturday, Nov. 15m at 6 .m. in the Warren Atherton Auditorium, located on the Delta College campus, 5151 Pacific Ave., Stockton. Parking is free. 

For patrons’ convenience, single tickets are now available from two box offices: the Stockton Symphony and the San Joaquin Delta College Box Office. The Stockton Symphony Box office is located at 4629 Quail Lakes Drive, Stockton. It is open Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 209.951.0196  and online 24/7 at www.StocktonSymphony.org. The San Joaquin Delta College Box Office is open Tuesday- Friday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and two hours before the performance at (209) 954.5110. They are located in the Locke Center, directly across from Atherton Auditorium and online at dca.deltacollege.edu . Single tickets are $25, $34, $43, $53 and $63. Student and children prices range from $17 to $34.
