MJC will host Orchestra Day

MODESTO  — Nine Stanislaus County high schools will perform in Modesto Junior College’s annual High School Orchestra Day on Thursday, Nov. 21, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Main Auditorium on East Campus, 435 College Avenue.  There is no charge for admission.

 Each high school will perform a 10-minute selection of orchestra repertoire. The event will end with the Irish reel, Finnegan’s Wake, performed by over 200 high school string musicians.  

 Beyer High School’s new orchestra, under the direction of Marcos Rivera, will participate for the first time in Orchestra Day. The other participating high schools are Downey, directed by Joanne Neuffer; Davis, directed by Mark Davila; Turlock, led by Joe Tovar; Pitman, led by Don Grishaw; Enochs directed by Phil Vallejo; Modesto directed by Troy Rexelle; Gregori led by Dan Bryan, and Johansen led by Brad Hart.
