MODESTO - Part of the young and enthusiastic new guard of Argentine tango dancers working to preserve and spread tango traditions, Eva Garlez & Pablo Rodriguez will visit Modesto on their U.S. tour.

They will lead workshops and perform at a milonga (Argentine tango dance party) on Saturday, June 22, at Jacobs Fine Dining, 2501 McHenry Avenue.

Specializing in the traditional dance as done in Buenos Aires halls, they focus on connection between partners and music.

Both have worked with Susanna Miller and Maria Plazolla, teaching in their academy. Rodriguez focuses on clear and accurate leadership with elegant footwork and balance. Garlez stresses posture and balance to develop an elegant follow.

They teach all levels at 2 p.m., a continuation class at  3:30 p.m.

Modesto Tango’s evening milonga will begin with an introductory class at 7:30 p.m.. open dancing following at 8:30 p.m. The guests will perform at 10 p.m.

The fee is $25 for one class, $40 for both, $10 for the milonga (lesson and dance). Participants may order food and beverage throughout the evening.
