Youth SCT actors staging The Wizard of Oz

STOCKTON —   Stockton Civic Theatre, Jr. Summer Program 2013 will present a full-scale musical production of The Wizard of Oz: Young Performers’ Edition.

This summer 53 students, entering grades 3 thru 12, have participated in the seven week program.  Performance dates for SCT Jr’s production are Aug. 1-4.

Based on the chldren’s book by L. Frank Baum with music and lyrics of the MGM Motion Picture Score by Harold Arlen and E.Y. Harburg and background music by Herbert Stothart, this production will feature songs like “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”; “Munchkinland”; “If I Only Had a Brain”; “Welcome to Munchkinland”; “If I Only Had a Heart”; “If I Only Had the Nerve”; “March of the Winkies”; “If I Were King of the Forest” ; and many more.

According to Director, Dominee Muller-Kimball,  “Thanks to the services of Flying By Foy, SCT Jr. students are especiallly  looking forward to the audience’s  reactions when they see Dorothy fly up the tornado, the Wicked Witch and other flying sequences.”  Muller-Kimball is assisted by Music Director Paul Kimball, and Choreographers James Reed and Francesca Poeschl.
