Manteca Police detectives have taken another alleged pornography operative off the city streets.
A long-term child pornography investigation netted Edward Bowden, 61, on Tuesday. He was transported to San Joaquin County Jail in French Camp with bail set at $275,000.
Lt. Tony Souza said that earlier this year the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children reported finding a pornographic video of a female believed to be younger than 8 years old. Souza said the further investigation showed the video was uploaded in the Manteca area.
Detective Sgt. Steve Schluer initiated an investigation based on the information and was ultimately able to locate the residence where the video was uploaded on line. Manteca detectives served a search warrant to a residence in the 300 block of North Union Road on Tuesday. Following Bowden’s arrest the offers seized computers, cameras, and digital storage devices. They also located hundreds of images of child pornography during their search.
The ages of the children ranged from infants to teens, Lt. Souza said.
A thorough forensic search of the electronic equipment will be conducted by the Department of Justice. Anyone with pertinent information regarding the case is urged to contact Detective Steve Schluer at 456.8101.
