Marissa Regalo is all but set for the upcoming school year.

The Ripon High senior picked up her class schedule and text books at Wednesday’s registration session otherwise known as “Ripon Pow Wow.”

She’s taking three Advanced Placement classes – Government, English and Calculus – with the goal of attending a four-year college.

“I’m getting excited about the upcoming school year,” said Regalo, who is hoping to be accepted at accepted to UC Davis or San Diego State.

She was among the estimated 400 students who went through the “Ripon Pow Wow” process on Wednesday.

RHS Principal Lance Morrow indicated that this first day was reserved for seniors and juniors. “If they had siblings who are sophomores or freshmen, we allowed them to register as well,” he said.

During this complete registration process, students submitted all the necessary forms such as insurance or permission slips. They also took their school ID photo and had the option of purchasing an ASB card, a sports package, paying transportation fees – or any other bill for that matter – and even making a donation to a lab class, Morrow said.

After picking up their class schedules, students walked to the RHS library to pick up their text books.

The process could also be handled online. “We had that going an hour and a half before the start of Pow Wow,” Morrow added.

Pow Wow continues today with registration for freshmen and sophomores.

The Link Crew assembly for freshmen is scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesday.

The first day of school is Wednesday, Aug. 12.
