• WHEN: Saturday, Oct. 2, & Sunday, Oct. 3, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The fifth annual Pumpkin Run benefiting the Manteca Unified Student Trust is set for Saturday, Oct. 2.

The one-mile and 5-kilometer events will again be held in conjunction with the Manteca Pumpkin Fair.

Both courses are described as “flat and fast,” according to MUST officials.

The Pumpkin Run’s mile race begins at 8 a.m. at the Tidewater Bike Path at Center and Elm streets. Participants will continue along the bike path, turning back at Alameda Street and returning to the starting the location.

The 5K course is similar in that runners and walkers, beginning at 8:30, will also use the Center and Elm streets as their starting point.

From there, they’ll continue north along the bike path, crossing Alameda Street, Louise Avenue, and turning back on Northgate Avenue.

The top finishers in each division will be recognized at the 10 o’clock awards ceremony in staging area at Library Park’s gazebo.

MUST was established to support youngsters in the Manteca Unified School District.

All proceeds from this event will go back to the non-profit organization, in particular, to student programs in the district.

The pre-registration deadline is Friday, Sept. 24, with the cost at $15 and the guarantee of a Pumpkin Run T-shirt.

Families can also register at this time. Cost is $50 and can secure four T-shirts if the registration form and check is submitted by the Sept. 24 deadline.

Those participating on race day will pay $25 (no t-shirts will be available).
