Quarterly luncheons focus on womens issues

The Manteca Convention & Visitors Bureau is staging its annual Women’s Connection in 2009 as four quarterly luncheons instead of just one daylong event.
The goal is to secure four different speakers to address issues facing women today.
The switch is designed to allow programs that can be adapted to the changing times as well as to allow businesses to have people participate at minimum impact to their schedules.
All of the quarterly luncheons will take place at The Emory Banquet Hall, 1028 W. Yosemite Ave., next door to Hafer’s Furniture.
The first speaker is Karen Wells who will discuss “How to recession proof your business and take it from invisible to powerful.” She is speaking at the quarterly luncheon on Wednesday, Feb. 18, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Tickets are $25 for the luncheon co-sponsored by Doctors Hospital of Manteca.
Other events the Manteca CVB is planning for 2009 include:
• Sport Heroes Hall of Distinction on Saturday, Feb. 28, at the Big League Dreams sports complex. Nominations are due next month.
• The Crossroads of California Street Fair April 4-5.
• The Best of Manteca on May 15.
• Culinary & Home Show on May 30.
