A Rina’s Run rally is set for Saturday morning.
While the actual event consisting of a 5K, 10K and half-Marathon is still months away, Ripon Manteca Training Team will be conducting a meet-and-greet in the Assist International parking lot, 800 S. Stockton Ave. in Ripon, beginning at 7:30.
After that, Shirley Nutt, who is a certified coach and runner, will be leading an informal run or walk.
“Distance and pace is up to you,” she said. “Dirt trails as well as asphalt surfaces are available – let’s have some fun.”
The actual Rina’s Run is scheduled for May 13, 2017.
Now in its 10th year, this is the major fundraiser for the Ripon Community Athletic Foundation, a non-profit, grassroots organization spearheaded by Stephanie and Vince Hobbs and others to upgrade the track and football field at Stouffer Field,
It was named in honor of the late Rina Brocchini, with the Brocchini Family Foundation being a major supporter of the Ripon High Stadium project since its inception.
Thus far, RCAF has raised and installed $1.8 million in infrastructure and is now working to fund an all-accessible restrooms and bleachers.
According to Stephanie Hobbs, the existing restrooms and bleachers are past their lifespan and no longer meet today’s standards.
