An open house will be held this evening for the Ripon Christian Athletic Stadium.
The public is invited to attend the 7 p.m. event at the still-under-construction facility at 435 N. Maple Ave. in Ripon.
Refreshments will be provided.
The goal is to have the stadium ready for the first fall sports game on Aug. 28.
Over the past few weeks, the frequently asked question has been: “How’s the stadium coming?”
The Athletic Stadium Committee provided an update on the project.
The original project or ‘Phase A’ called for the natural grass playing surface and field, bleachers on the home side, field lights, press box, concessions / ticket booth, restrooms, scoreboard and additional sidewalk and concrete pathways throughout the stadium.
“We are very pleased to announce that through the incredible generosity of people, we have not only received enough funds to complete ‘Phase A,’ but have been able to move forward with several items (beyond Phase A),” said the Athletic Stadium Committee in a newsletter.
About $75,000 is needed to complete the entire project.
Items needed but not included in ‘Phase A’ are the visitor-side bleachers, landscaping, sound system, fencing around the entire facility, team room, and a parking lot between the softball field and new stadium.
The committee will be on hand at the open house to answer questions and allow folks to walk the stadium or sit back and enjoy the view.
