Ripon council getting lesson in healthy air

RIPON – The San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution District is made up of eight counties.

Included is San Joaquin County.

At Tuesday’s Ripon City Council meeting, Song Thao of SJVAPD – a public health agency whose mission is to improve the health and quality of life for all residents of the Valley through efficient, effective, and entrepreneurial air quality-management strategies – will provide a presentation of the “Healthy Air Living” outreach campaign during the 7 p.m. open session.

“Health Air Living” is an initiative that provides ways to make daily decisions that take into consideration the effects of air quality in the Valley. Included is reducing the number of vehicle miles, reducing emissions from certain equipment, and reducing emission during poor air quality days.

The Ripon City Hall Council Chambers is located at 259 N. Wilma Ave.

In other agenda items:

•Council will consider a resolution accepting the dedication to certain real property at Second Street to the City of Ripon, authorizing the powers that be – Mayor Elden “Red” Nutt, City Clerk Lynette Van Laar, and City Engineer Kevin Werner – to execute the necessary documents for recordation.

•The Redevelopment Agency will look to approve the income of $774,784.
