The City of Ripon reduced water usage by 29.2 percent for October.
Those recent figures were based on 2013 during the same month, according to Director of Public Works Ted Johnston.
“For the past 12 months, the average for our city-wide water reduction is at 31.2 percent,” he said at the Nov. 8 Ripon City Council meeting.
Elected leaders established a water conservation goal of 30 percent at their September meeting.
Since the beginning of this month, Ripon has implemented a once-a-week schedule through the end of February.
For those with odd numbered addresses, they’re on a Sunday-only watering schedule.
Those with even numbered addresses are allowed to water just on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the State Water Resources Control Board was cautiously optimistic about the recent storms in Northern California, saying it “provided an encouraging start to the 2016-2017 water year,” with plans of continuing for possibly another dry winter.
The State Water Board will continue to monitor conservation levels and water supply conditions – staff has plans of developing a proposal for extended emergency water conservation regulations in January.
