Ripon launches large item pickup service

The City of Ripon’s Large Unwanted Item Pick Up Program is being offered from now through September.
This is different from the Spring Clean Up Program used in recent years. Problems such as loose trash coupled with complaints of scavengers and the unsightly appearance of garbage along the streets caused the discontinuation of the previous program used for the past 15 years.
Under the new program, residents can schedule a pickup of their large unwanted items. Click on to www.cityofripon.org for the list of acceptable items.
In order to schedule a pick up appoint, they can call or e-mail the Public Works Department at 209.599.2151 / www.largeitempickup@cityofripon.org.
From there, a written confirmation will be provided on the scheduled pick up day.
Unwanted items must be placed on the curb by 7 a.m. on that scheduled date, but no earlier than the day before.
Under the Large Unwanted Pick Up Program rules:
uEach residential utility customer may schedule just one pick up per year.
uOnly acceptable items will be hauled off.
uLimit is four large items per customer.
uItems must be placed on the curb in a manner that does not obstruct the path of travel of vehicles or pedestrians.
uOnly items of customers with a confirmation number will be picked up.
For more information, call the City of Ripon Public Works Department at 209.599.2151.
