Ripon Library offering Book Buddies program

Melinda Kopp has a way of adding some flavor to those summer days.

The branch librarian of the Ripon Memorial Library was on hand at Thursday’s Farmers Market providing information on the various reading programs for people of all ages.

Included was the “Book Buddies” that kicked off the previous day and will be held every Wednesday for the next few weeks, starting at 2 p.m.

Pre-kindergarten children through sixth grade can enjoy being read aloud thanks to volunteers. Kopp indicated that reading everyday with this method not only builds vocabulary in young people but also helps develop lifelong readers.

The “Reading is Sooo Delicious!” marked the beginning of the 2013 Summer Reading Program at the Ripon branch.

Earlier that day, those attending had a chance to meet the “Wild Things Animal Rescuers (and some of their rescued animals).”

Kopp added: “The library has a feast of great programs, yummy reasons to read and sweet rewards for all who participate.”

The summer program, sponsored by the Friends of the Ripon Memorial Library, will continue through July.

The library is located at 333 W. Main St.
