A rib-tickling evening on Sept. 13, combined with a sit-down dinner with chicken cordon bleu as the main entrée, will go a long way toward helping research to find a cure for cancer and making hospitalized veterans have a merry Christmas.

These are the two recipients of all proceeds from the 5th annual “adults only” Comedy Fashion Show and dinner hosted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1051 Ladies Auxiliary of Ripon.

This show departs from the usual slew of fashion shows in that the models strutting their stuff up and down the aisles inside the Post Hall at West Ripon Road will be male models in sophisticated and outrageous female outfits.  Featured models are local residents and include members of the Ripon City Council and prominent business owners in the community. Previous years’ models have included Ripon Council member Dean Uecker and former mayor and retired police chief Red Nutt.

The evening of fun and food will be held Saturday, Sept. 13, starting with dinner at 5 p.m. followed by the fashion show at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 per person; the event is open to adults only.

All of the models will be accepting donation “tips” which will go to the Ladies Auxiliary’s various projects.

Tickets can be purchased at the VFW Post Hall at 12455 W. Ripon Road, corner Olive Avenue.

“This show promises to put a smile on your face and warmth in your heart,” said Ladies Auxiliary member Sheri Layson.

A drawing for big-ticket prizes will follow the fashion show. Among the prizes are a three-day, two-night vacation at the Atlantis Hotel Casino in Reno, and a date night at Black Oak Casino.
