Ripon Christian Schools (RCS) is offering all-day, every day, kindergarten classes effective at the start of the 2013-14 school year.

The all-day kindergarten program will run from 8:20 a.m. until 2:55 p.m. RCS Kindergarten classes will meet – if not exceed – all state requirements for kindergarten, with a strong focus on mathematics and literacy skills. RCS utilizes the Saxon Math Curriculum with the kindergarten receiving the first grade level of Saxon Math. These Kindergarten classes will benefit children who thrive in a smaller learning environment, as the classes are planned to open with only 20 students or less.

RCS is planning on only offering three, all-day sections of kindergarten. Children will receive more individualized attention and teachers can focus on the unique needs of each student.  The move to all-day classes will also allow parents to utilize Ripon Christian’s current busing program.

The school will be hosting a New Family Information Night on Thursday, Jan. 17, beginning at 7 p.m., in the school’s Performing Arts Center located at 435 N. Maple Ave., in Ripon.  This event is open to Christian families who are interested in learning more about the program. Parents will have the opportunity to ask questions about the curriculum standards and visit with the teachers.

“All-day kindergarten offers our students an opportunity to delve deeper into core subject matter, explore a wider variety of enrichment opportunities, and ultimately equip our students with more tools to be successful in first grade and beyond.” said Mary Sybesma, Preschool to eighth grade principal. 

Superintendent Kerry Manus noted, “Ultimately the Board and administration feel all-day kindergarten builds a firm foundation for our younger students to grow in a wide variety of academic, social, emotional, and spiritual areas.”
