The Ripon Community Fourth of July parade and fireworks show is right around the corner.

Highlighting Independence Day will be the pyrotechnic display from Stouffer Field at Ripon High, with the best views coming from nearby places such as Ripon Elementary School and Ripon Christian School at dusk.

The day kicks off 10 a.m. with the downtown parade made up of people of all ages on decorated skateboards, bicycles, tricycles, scooters, wagons, strollers and wheelchairs. Pets are also allowed.

Registration for the parade begins at 9:15.

Ripon Elementary will be the place to be later in the day for live music, carnival games and food vendors. A drawing will also be conducted with more than $1,000 worth in prizes.

Scheduled prior to that will be a different theme day to mark this year’s Fourth of July celebration.

This event is made possible from donations by the community and area businesses, including Mario’s Family Restaurant. The Main Street eatery held a special fundraising event this past week that called for 10 percent of all breakfast, lunch and dinner meals to go to the city-sponsored celebration.

Each year, the goal is to raise $25,000
