Ripon Unified welcomed four newcomers and bid farewell to five at Monday’s school board meeting.

Among the new hires were teachers Mary Eyer (English) and Denise Hartley (Art) at Ripon High, teacher Amelia Luna (sixth grade) at Ripona Elementary School, and Gail Dunkel (lead) in food services.

Wednesday marked the first day of school.

Trustees accepted the resignations of Stephanie Sciolla (instructional assistant) at Ripon Elementary, Raevan Roberts (instructional assistant) at Colony Oak Elementary School, and Andrea Harvey (Art teacher), Carmen Sanchez (bilingual family liaison), and Amanda Gloria (bilingual assistant) at Ripon High.

Sciolla indicated that she’s available as a substitute teacher as she finishes up in a credential program.

Roberts is moving to Sacramento to attend school there and pursue her bachelor’s of art degree.

Sanchez has been at RHS for the past seven years and four prior to that as a student. “I am thankful and blessed to have received guidance from all my directors and colleagues,” she said in her letter of resignation.
