An attempted kick-in-door burglary in the 800 block of Reynolds Avenue in Ripon shortly after noon Monday was thwarted because a 14-year-old teen was home on the last day of his Christmas vacation.

The bottom part of the front door had been kicked in by the suspect, Ripon Police investigators said.

A witness reported seeing a male subject with brown pants and boots in front of the house, according to First Sergeant Steve Merchant, but no direction of travel was noted.

Sgt. Merchant is asking residents to contact the Ripon Police Department if they witnessed anything unusual in the area south of Stouffer Park and west of the Stanislaus River in the eastern part of the city.
