Kevin Werner could be appointed City Administrator at tonight’s Ripon City Council meeting.

Elected leaders are scheduled to meet in closed session to discuss removing the interim title from Werner, who has a dual role as deputy city administrator and city engineer.

He took over from Leon Compton, who retired in March after 27 years at the helm.

Council delayed making it official, opting first to update the ordinance for the job prior to naming Werner to the post.

The terms and condition of his employment will be set forth in his letter to the council.

Werner’s contract as city administrator is expected to be effective as of Oct. 24.

Council, during the 7 p.m. open session, is scheduled to handle the following:

• Present a proclamation congratulating local youngster Aiden Tijero for winning the title of World Champion Motocross Rider.

• Proclaim November to the Women’s Center of San Joaquin County-Youth and Family Services as National Runaway Prevention Month.

• Hear a presentation from staff on the update regarding Safe Route to School improvement project at Park View Elementary School.

• Adopt the ordinance on “Disposition of Surplus Personal Property,” authorizing the city administrator to dispose of property that’s no longer used by the city. Any item valued more than $2,500 must be approved by the council.
