“What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.”

It’s the official motto of the Weston Elementary School’s graduating class of 2013.

And when coupled with the remarks that former Weston student and Ripon High athletic and academic standout Cole Herrin made to those that were standing in the same position he found himself in back in 2009, the more than 50 students who made their way across the stage to receive their graduation certificate from trustee Donna Parks proved their ready to take on the world.

With a class video showing the maturity that the class as a whole has made during its collective time together, and the famous Jackson 5 track “I’ll Be There” to provide a musical backlog to illustrate those changes, the students of Weston Elementary School took their first steps towards becoming high school students Thursday night.

Most of those who graduated will move on to Ripon High School.
