Ripon Police motorcycle traffic officer Mario Ysit was pinned with his sergeant’s badge Wednesday afternoon by his wife Kami in ceremonies in the police department’s squad room led by Chief Ed Ormonde.

Kami was recently elevated in rank from sergeant in the Tracy Police Department to lieutenant. She is now handling more administrative duties. She was formerly a motor officer supervisor.

Police Chief Ed Ormonde noted that Ysit has displayed a multilateral drive that the department has been looking for in its support staff.  Aside from his wife, one daughter, Molly, attended the event to help in serving a special cake.

Ysit is in his fourth year with the department following a four-year stint with the Tracy Police Department and some 23 years as a supervisor with American Medical Response Ambulance.   He has served as a Field Training Officer, a member of the Manteca-Ripon SWAT team, a police range master and as a coordinator for the Ripon Explorer Post made up of high school students.  A number of his children have joined the Explorer program.
