It was by chance that a Manteca murder suspect was captured by a Ripon Police officer minutes after allegedly killing a 60-year-old man outside the  Taco Bell restaurant off Airport Way in Manteca, hijacking a car and then fleeing down the 120 Bypass and Highway 99 and into Ripon.
Angel Israel Miranda, 19, of Manteca, exited the southbound Highway 99 off ramp at the Jack Tone Road and headed south toward the Ripon downtown area.  The Ripon officer began to track the vehicle from  Canal Street and attempted to pull the man over to the side of the road for a registration violation. 
Miranda failed to stop and sped away with the officer initiating a pursuit with the suspect attempting to evade the police car. The suspect made a left turn onto Harvest Drive and a right onto Blossom Drive and another left into Kiwi Court where the officer blocked his exit. A foot pursuit followed and the officer tackled the suspect taking him to the ground as Ripon backup units arrived at the scene. 
It was not until Ripon Police called Manteca Police to ask for a background on the driver and the car that was registered out of Manteca that they learned they had arrested a murder suspect who was also on parole for a previous conviction.
Manteca officers had been initially called to the Taco Bell restaurant at 1968 Daniels Street adjacent to  South Airport Way at  9:45 p.m. with a report of gunshots being fired in the parking lot.
It was just after the shooting officers learned that a woman who had just exited the freeway westbound and was stopped at an Airport Way red light was forced out of her car at gunpoint. Miranda allegedly leveled a hand gun at her through an open passenger side window.  He then fled in her car onto  the eastbound 120 Bypass.
Manteca officers returned Miranda to Manteca for questioning by detectives.  Agents from the California Department of Justice and did their own review of the location where the man was arrested.
