The Ripon Boys Scouts are knocking on doors to help feed the hungry.
Scouts from Troop 414 have been going door-to-door passing out bags asking residents to fill them with as many cans of food that they can spare. The bags are scheduled to be picked up on Saturday, Nov. 4, from the front porches throughout the Ripon community, according to Scoutmaster Roger Valdez.
Valdez said the scouts will be picking up the canned food on Saturday beginning at 9 a.m.
“Whatever you give will help feed the hungry,” he said.
The Scouts are looking for any non-perishable items such as the regular canned food items along with boxed food but please have none in glass containers. The donations should be placed in plastic or paper grocery bags at the front door and the boys will do the rest.
The most needed items include, granola bars, nutrition bars, juice boxes, bottled water, oatmeal, whole grain cereals with low sugar, enriched pasta and rice, canned chicken, tuna, along with canned or boxed soup and canned stews and chili, canned fruits and vegetables, kidney beans, pinto beans, peanut butter, prunes, nuts as well as canned or dried milk.
