The Ripon Unified School District could soon be adding transitional kindergarten.
This TK program would be eligible to children who have not met the minimum age requirement for kindergarten.
At Monday’s special meeting at the district office – 304 N. Acacia Ave, inside the conference room, beginning at 4 p.m. – board members will discuss the first of a two-year program as part of the 4:30 workshop.
TK is designed to help children in developing the academic, social and emotional skills necessary to succeed in kindergarten and beyond.
TK would be available to those youngsters whose fifth birthdays fall between Sept. 2 and Dec. 2. Parents or guardians of the eligible student would be notified of the availability of the program.
Enrollment of the TK would be voluntary.
Trustees, at the workshop, will also look at updating other board policies such Use of Facilities; Administering Medication & Monitoring Health Conditions; Chronic Absence and Truancy;  Parental Notifications: and Dropout Prevention.
The board will conduct a first reading, with an option to waiving the second reading and approving the policy, as amended, in some cases.
