Sandra Vallerga Marchman, 53, of Ripon is being arraigned today in San Joaquin County Superior Court on charges of embezzlement and elder abuse involving $148,000 allegedly taken between 2010 and 2014.
The Ripon resident was reportedly running a house-flipping business and had been given check signing authority by the elderly victim. She is accused of writing more than 80 checks totaling nearly $102,000 and making some 350 credit card charges against Diamond Star Enterprises, totaling slightly under $47,000. The money was allegedly used for personal travel, entertainment and living expenses during the same time period, according to court documents.
The shortages were discovered after the victim had been hospitalized. While recovering he learned his credit card was maxed out and unpaid. His business bank account was also wiped out.
San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Detective Marcus Smith is requesting that anyone familiar with the case and having any information about Marchman’s involvement to call (209) 468-4425.
