MODESTO - The Modesto St. Andrews Society, established to promote Scottish Heritage, will hold a dinner on Saturday, Jan. 30, to honor Robert Burns, Scotland’s most famous poet and bard.

The dinner will be held at Appetez Restaurant, 825 Roseburg Avenue, Modesto. Reservations and payment of $25 are required by Jan. 20.

The full buffet dinner will include a bagpiper to announce the haggis, a group from MJC playing fiddle tunes, and Celtic Harpist Kathleen Fuller.

Members of the group will read selections written by Robert Burns over 250 years ago, many in broad Scots’ dialect. These celebrations of Burns’ life are held all over the world in January to honor this well loved author.
