Deputy District Attorney and Chief Prosecutor Tori Verber Salazar led Gary Hickey in the race for San Joaquin County District Attorney Tuesday night at press time.

Salazar had garnered some 77 percent of the vote by 11 p.m. compared to Hickey’s 23 percent with 93 of 501 precincts reporting.  

Hickey was unable to be reached, however Salazar was quick to say her team was cautiously optimistic and lauded the work of her friends and committee members during her campaign.  

She has voiced her strong concern with the criminal element in the county and hopes to make the county “miserable” for those breaking the law.  Salazar is a resident of Woodbridge and Hickey resides in Lodi.
