Love Ripon is returning April 21.
The non-profit organization is developing possible clean-up or improvement ideas for that day.
Past projects have included tending to the Ripon Community Garden, the Ripon High stadium, the playgrounds at the city parks, and sprucing up the various Ripon Unified elementary school sites, to name a few.
“(Love Ripon) is about giving those in our community a chance to serve,” said chairman Joe Laswell.
He and other volunteers were at last month’s City Council meeting to give the City of Ripon a Love Ripon banner from last year. Included were hand-written messages praising this one-day event that began locally in 2012.
“This is giving thanks to those who provided hard work and commitment,” Laswell said.
Love Ripon was born out of the success of Love Modesto, which started in 2007 as way of getting the city to move past its ‘worse cities in America’ distinction back then.
Love Ripon, which recently partnered with Assist International, just held a t-shirt logo design contest and is planning a talent show at Bethany Homes, according to Laswell.
Project ideas can be submitted e-mailing info.loveripon@gmail.com or calling 209.232.6553.
